GS Federal is seeking a part-time Communications and Program Coordinator to support the Iowa Opioid Response Technology Initiative, a statewide project designed to help Iowa prevention professionals, treatment and recovery partners, educators, law enforcement personnel, coalition leaders, and other opioid-abatement professionals use artificial intelligence and digital tools safely and effectively.
Position type: Part-time position
Time commitment: Approximately 9 hours per week
Location: 100% remote; Iowa residency required
End date: June 29, 2027
Compensation: $30 per hour

About the Position
This role focuses on communication, information sharing, project updates, audience engagement, and support for practical explainers and resources. The Coordinator will help translate project activities, training opportunities, AI-related updates, opioid-abatement resources, and PreventionCoach.ai materials into clear, timely, useful communication for Iowa professionals and project partners.
The position also supports training logistics, office hours, participant communication, project documentation, and implementation tracking. This is not an opioid-abatement subject matter expert role. Opioid-related and AI-related content will be developed or reviewed by project subject matter experts before public release.
Primary Responsibilities
- Draft and organize project announcements, training reminders, follow-up emails, partner updates, and other audience-facing messages.
- Prepare short explainers, resource summaries, update blurbs, and practical communication materials for PreventionCoach.ai and related project activities.
- Support dissemination of PreventionCoach.ai resources, weekly updates, training opportunities, technical assistance opportunities, and other project information.
- Help translate project information into clear, practical language for prevention, treatment, recovery, education, law enforcement, nonprofit, government, and community audiences.
- Coordinate communication with project partners and help prepare materials partners can share with their networks.
- Support website, platform, newsletter, email, or social media content related to project resources and training opportunities.
- Maintain communication calendars, project update logs, resource inventories, dissemination tracking records, and related project files.
- Schedule virtual trainings, office hours, technical assistance sessions, and other project activities as needed.
- Set up registration pages, online forms, meeting links, and participant communication systems.
- Send participant instructions, reminders, evaluation links, and follow-up messages.
- Maintain participant lists, attendance records, contact lists, and project tracking documents.
- Support live virtual trainings by helping manage Zoom or similar platforms, chat, links, recordings, and participant questions as needed.
- Help organize project records, implementation trackers, reporting documentation, and other project files.
Minimum Qualifications
- Clear, professional writing for public-facing or professional audiences.
- Ability to draft emails, announcements, updates, summaries, or other communication materials.
- Ability to organize information so it is easy for others to understand and use.
- Experience or demonstrated ability with participant, customer, stakeholder, or partner communication.
- Experience or demonstrated ability with training, webinar, meeting, or event logistics.
- Comfort using Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or similar platforms.
- Experience with scheduling, calendar coordination, registration systems, online forms, spreadsheets, or similar tools.
- Basic document organization and recordkeeping.
- Ability to follow through on assigned tasks with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with communications, public information, marketing, outreach, education, public health, prevention, behavioral health, nonprofit, government, or community-based projects.
- Experience writing short explainers, newsletters, social media posts, website updates, email campaigns, or training-related communication.
- Experience with learning management systems, registration platforms, email communication tools, survey tools, or website content systems.
- Accessibility-minded communication and plain-language writing.
- Experience supporting trainings, technical assistance, webinars, or professional development events.
- Experience with project tracking, implementation records, or grant-funded project documentation.
- Interest in responsible AI use, technology-supported communication, prevention, public health, or opioid-abatement work.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field is preferred.
